Upcoming - Special vinyl edition of the OST by composer and musician Goodbye Ivan of the 2 films, SOMNIA (2023) & INSOMNIA (2024), from filmmaker and photographer Pascal Greco. His new film INSOMNIA will only be available via a QR-code in the vinyl.
“SOMNIA is like a fever dream and the musical material of the film is a marvel of frightening melancholy.” Le Temps
"SOMNIA has a dimension that is as powerful as it is poetic.” MAGMAH
"Both films have a universe that is at once dreamlike, dark, melancholic and disturbing. Contemplative, suspended, ethereal, the contribution of Goodbye Ivan goes far beyond the sound illustration. The notes of one and the images of the other intermingle and intertwine as rarely.” Tribune de Genève
"SOMNIA is an intense and original film object, its music with strange beauty compliments the images and thus prolongs this sensory experience outside of time. INSOMNIA, a disturbing and immersive visual experience, a body of chords where movement marries the melody." La Liberté
SOMNIA / INSOMNIA “They emerge like a dream, twirling slowly along the steep walls of a basement, carried by the grace and the power of organ notes. Could it be a dream? One that transports us to another universes with jerky temporality? The sententious music sets the tone, guiding these magnified bodies into a timeless space. Suddenly, seized by a brutal force, the light roars and an intensity punctuated by a fragile inertia recalls these bodies to the center of an infinite space. The space becomes the stage for scenes in which a simple, gentle baring of the flesh intermingles, taking us back to the primitive purity of human beings. But who are they? Where do they come from? Have they always been with us, or is their essence merely the fruit of our emotions?”
The starting point of the second film - side B - INSOMNIA ”In 2023, the "carte blanche" offered by the MAH - Museum of art and history Geneva to filmmaker Pascal Greco highlights the artist's original take on our reality, with the bodies and spaces we think we know so well. SOMNIA, an unusual show, combining cinema and music, for which the director chose to collaborate with composer Goodbye Ivan.
In 2024, this collaboration gave rise, from the numerous unused rushes, to a “side B”, a second short film, INSOMNIA, in which Pascal Greco favors a montage of close-up shots, letting the camera “caress” the skin of a sculpture, a naked body or the stone of a building. The image, which alternates between near-darkness, saturated light and whitish tones, works in perfect symbiosis with the hushed piano melodies, creating an atmosphere as sensual as it is dreamlike. The music is still by Goodbye Ivan, who has also composed a “side B”, rearranging some of SOMNIA's themes acoustically.”
A “side B” to be discovered with the release of a vinyl album, with labels Urgence Disk and Chambre Noire, by Goodbye Ivan & Pascal Greco, including the soundtracks of both with the film INSOMNIA only available via a QR-code in the vinyl.
